In fact, because of this consistency, Austin Zamudio, a research expert living in Chicago, points out that looking for Latino and Hispanic brands usually happens organically during their shopping.
"I don't think this is a deliberate cultivation of'I need to find a Latino-owned company'," Zamudio told HuffPost. "But out of all my favorites, a large portion of them happen to be Latino-which is great."
Zamudio went on to say that they were often attracted by the tones and techniques used by Latin artists and craftsmen. When scrolling through Etsy or shopping in person, the products that attract their attention are usually from Latin brands. "Buying from a Latino store naturally resonates with me," they said. "I looked for certain styles. The colors used in Latino culture and art naturally appeal to me."
If you need to review the language, "Hispanic" usually includes people or descendants from Spanish-speaking countries such as Spain, while "Latino" includes people or descendants from Latin American countries such as Mexico, Brazil, and El Salvador. Since "Latino" uses "masculine" conjugation, "Latino" has become a non-binary or genderless term. However, as with everything in life, people can decide which terms and names suit them.
